TET (Classes I-V)

Part A: Child Development and Pedagogy (30 questions)

  • Growth, development and maturation: meaning, principles, and how development links to learning
  • Heredity and environment as factors in development
  • Socialisation: role of teachers, parents and peers
  • Stages of the lifespan, and physical, psychological and social development in each stage
  • Physical, social, emotional, language and cognitive development: ideas of Piaget, Kohlberg and Vygotsky
  • Personality: meaning, nature and theories (Freud, Erikson)
  • Intelligence: meaning, nature and theories (Spearman, Thorndike, Guilford, Gardner, Sternberg)
  • Individual differences among learners and what they mean for teaching
  • Inclusive education: learners from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Children with learning difficulties and disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, non-verbal learning disabilities)
