WB Primary TET Eligibility: Age Limit & Qualification

Age limit
The TET-2023 notification sets no age limit for taking the test. For the job, the recruitment notification of 25 September 2025 asks for a minimum age of 18 and a maximum of 40 years as on 1 January 2025.

Nationality & other conditions
- The TET-2023 notification does not give a nationality rule. For the job, the 2025 recruitment notification says you must be a citizen of India.
- You must hold the minimum qualification on the date of the notification (13 September 2023). Qualifications gained after that date are not accepted.
- The TET-2022 rules also allowed Graduation (50%) + B.Ed. The TET-2023 notification does not list B.Ed. as a qualification.
- TET-2023 fee (online only): General Rs. 500; OBC-A / OBC-B Rs. 400; SC / ST / Differently Abled / Exempted Category Rs. 250. Extra processing charges apply.
- The TET certificate is valid for life for all categories.
- There is no limit on attempts. A qualified candidate may take a later TET to improve the score.
- Passing TET does not give you a legal right to a job. It only lets you be considered in a recruitment.
- For the job, you must have studied the medium language as a first or second language at Higher Secondary level. For Santhali medium, you only need to read, write and speak Santhali in Ol-Chiki script.
