West Bengal Primary TET: Exam Pattern, Syllabus & Free Preparation
The West Bengal Primary TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) is a single-stage written eligibility examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE), an autonomous body under the School Education Department, Government of West Bengal. It tests whether a candidate is eligible to be appointed as a primary school teacher for Classes I to V in the state. Qualifying the TET earns an eligibility certificate; it is not itself a direct appointment, and actual teaching posts are filled through a separate recruitment process.
The exam is taken by aspiring primary teachers across West Bengal and is highly competitive — TET-2022 saw over 6 lakh candidates appear. To be eligible, a candidate must have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) along with a 2-year D.El.Ed / D.Ed teacher-training certificate (or B.Ed as permitted), with a minimum age of 18.
