Banking recruitment in India runs mainly through two bodies — the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), which hires for public-sector banks like Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and PNB, and the State Bank of India (SBI), which recruits separately. Selection is staged: a Preliminary objective test screens candidates, a Mains exam tests them in more depth, and PO recruitment adds an interview. What is the banking prelims exam pattern?
The Preliminary exam has 100 questions for 100 marks in 60 minutes, split across English, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude, with a separate 20-minute timer for each section. There is +1 for a correct answer and -0.25 for a wrong one.
What is the difference between IBPS and SBI exams?
IBPS conducts recruitment for public-sector banks such as Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and PNB, while the State Bank of India recruits separately for its own posts. The syllabus and pattern are very similar, so most aspirants prepare for both together.
