Nationality & other conditions
- You must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan. A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam to settle permanently in India can also apply. Everyone except Indian citizens needs an eligibility certificate from the Government of India before getting a job offer.
- The education cut-off date is 7 October 2026. A result that the Board is still processing on that date does not count.
- If you have an equivalent qualification, you must show an equivalence certificate at document verification.
- Only male candidates can be selected for vacancies in the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). LDC in BRO also needs physical efficiency, physical and medical standards (Annexure-XVI of the notice). These are checked after selection.
- Ex-servicemen who are only matriculates can apply for ex-servicemen vacancies only, and only if they have at least 15 years of service by 7 October 2026.
- Application fee: ₹100. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen candidates do not pay any fee.
- Correction charges: ₹200 for the first correction and ₹500 for the second. Everyone pays them, including fee-exempt candidates. Only two corrections are allowed.
- A PwBD candidate who cannot type because of a permanent physical disability can be exempted from the Typing Test with a Civil Surgeon's certificate (Annexure-XIII). This does not cover visually or hearing impaired candidates.
- Candidates who could not complete Aadhaar authentication must reach the exam centre 2 hours early, with two passport-size photos and an original photo ID showing the date of birth.
- Selected candidates are on probation for 2 years. Posts carry All India Service Liability, so you can be posted anywhere in India. You may need to learn the local language of the state you are allotted.
