Age limit

Age is counted as on 1 August 2026. The limit depends on the post. 18–27 years (born between 2 Aug 1999 and 1 Aug 2008): all Pay Level 4 and 5 Group C posts, such as Auditor, Accountant, Tax Assistant, UDC/SSA and Postal/Sorting Assistant. 20–30 years (born between 2 Aug 1996 and 1 Aug 2006): ASO in CSS, Ministry of Railways, MEA and AFHQ, and Sub Inspector in CBI. 18–30 years (born between 2 Aug 1996 and 1 Aug 2008): most other Group B posts. 18–32 years (born between 2 Aug 1994 and 1 Aug 2008): Junior Statistical Officer.

Educational qualification

All posts not listed belowBachelor's degree from a recognised university, or equivalent.
Assistant Audit Officer (Central Cadre)Bachelor's degree from a recognised university or institute. Desirable: CA, CMA, CS, M.Com, Master's in Business Studies, MBA (Finance) or Master's in Business Economics.
Assistant Audit Officer (State Cadre) and Assistant Accounts Officer (State Cadre)Bachelor's degree, plus the ability to read, write, speak and understand the state's regional/official language at Class 10 level, with a certificate from a recognised board. Same desirable qualifications as the Central Cadre post.
Junior Statistical Officer (MoSPI)Bachelor's degree in any subject with at least 60% marks in Mathematics in Class 12, OR a Bachelor's degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects in the degree.
Statistical Investigator Grade-II (Ministry of Home Affairs)Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Demography, Population Studies, Operations Research, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Application, Data Science or Artificial Intelligence.
Final-year studentsYou can apply, but you must have the required degree, with the result declared, on or before 1 August 2026.
