WBPSC Miscellaneous 2024 Exam Date, Notification & Vacancies

The Miscellaneous Services Recruitment Examination, 2024 (Advt. No. 13/2024) is run by the Public Service Commission, West Bengal. It fills officer posts in West Bengal government departments. The posts named in the advertisement include Assistant Child Development Project Officer, Disaster Management Officer / Block Disaster Management Officer, Block Youth Officer, Block Welfare Officer, Inspector of Agricultural Income Tax, Auditor of Co-operative Societies, Revenue Inspector and others. More posts may be added later. Any graduate can apply. You must also be able to read, write and speak Bengali, unless your mother tongue is Nepali. There are three stages: a Preliminary exam (MCQ, 200 marks), a Final written exam (descriptive, 450 marks) and a Personality Test (100 marks). The Prelims only decides who sits the Final exam. Its marks do not count in the final merit list.

When is the WBPSC Miscellaneous Prelims 2024?

WBPSC set the Prelims for Sunday, 4 October 2026, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm, at 26 centres across West Bengal. E-admit cards could be downloaded from 22 September 2026 on psc.wb.gov.in.

What qualification do I need?

A degree from a recognised university, or an equivalent. You must have it by 9 June 2026. You must also be able to read, write and speak Bengali, unless your mother tongue is Nepali.

What is the age limit?

20 to 44 years as on 1 January 2024 (born between 2 January 1980 and 1 January 2004). SC/ST of West Bengal get 5 more years. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of West Bengal get 3 more years. PwBD candidates can apply up to 45 years.

What is the Prelims pattern? Is there negative marking?

One MCQ paper of 100 questions and 200 marks in 1 hour 30 minutes. General Studies has 150 marks and Arithmetic has 50 marks. Each question carries 2 marks. Wrong answers lose marks. The 2023 booklet cut 0.50 mark per wrong answer, and the 2024 amount is printed on the booklet.

Do Prelims marks count in the final merit list?

No. The Prelims is only a screening test. The final merit list uses the Final written exam (450 marks) plus the Personality Test (100 marks), a total of 550.

How many vacancies are there, and what is the pay?

WBPSC has not published a vacancy count yet. It says the number will be announced later. Posts 1 to 11 are at Pay Level 10 (Rs. 32,100 to 82,900). Posts 12 to 19 are at Pay Level 9 (Rs. 28,900 to 74,500). Allowances are extra.
