WBPSC Miscellaneous 2024 Eligibility: Age Limit & Qualification

Age limit
20 to 44 years as on 1 January 2024. This means born on or after 2 January 1980 and on or before 1 January 2004. The upper limit was raised from 39 to 44 years by Finance Department Notification No. 1707-F(P2) dated 16 May 2026. Only the age in your Madhyamik (or equivalent) certificate is accepted.

Educational qualification

| All posts | A degree from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification. You must have it by the closing date of the application (9 June 2026). |
| All posts (language) | Ability to read, write and speak Bengali. This is not needed if your mother tongue is Nepali. |
| Lady Extension Officer, Mass Education Extension | Women only. Men are not suitable for this post. |
Nationality & other conditions
- You must be a citizen of India (by birth or by registration), or belong to another group declared eligible by the Government of India. In the second case, you need a certificate of eligibility from the Government before you can get an appointment.
- Fee: Rs. 160 plus service charges, paid online only. SC/ST candidates of West Bengal and PwBD candidates (40% or more) do not pay. OBC candidates must pay. SC/ST of other states get no fee exemption. The fee is not refunded.
- Only one application per candidate. More than one application can be cancelled.
- Reservation (EWS, SC, ST, OBC Non-Creamy Layer) is only for people of West Bengal. Candidates from other states are treated as unreserved.
- Category certificates must be issued by a West Bengal authority on or before the closing date and uploaded as PDF (up to 100 KB).
- You must have good health and character. Selected candidates face a police check of their background and a medical exam before appointment.
- Mobile phones, smart watches and other devices are not allowed at the exam venue.
