Cut-off: 213 to 715 (9,96,935 candidates)
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty and vacancies — treat last year's as a guide, not a promise. Marks out of 720, shown from the lowest qualifying mark up to the highest mark in that band. The first row counts every candidate at or above the 50th percentile, of any category. The other rows show the extra marks band in which each reserved group qualified. These are qualifying marks for the merit list, not admission cut-offs for any college. In all, 11,21,185 candidates qualified. NEET UG 2026 pattern: 180 compulsory MCQs for 720 marks. +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, 0 for unanswered. If NTA drops a question, every candidate gets +4 for it. In 2026 the lowest qualifying marks were 213 (General/EWS) and 177 (SC, ST, OBC-NCL) out of 720.
How your NEET UG 2026 score is calculated
Each section is scored on its own: right answers × marks per question, minus wrong answers × the negative mark. Skipped questions score zero. For example, in Physics (45 questions), 31 right and 7 wrong gives 31 × 4 − 7 × 1 = 117 marks.
| Section | Right | Wrong | Skipped | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Physics | 31 | 7 | 7 | 117 |
| Chemistry | 31 | 7 | 7 | 117 |
| Biology (Botany and Zoology) | 63 | 14 | 13 | 238 |
| Total (out of 720) | 472 | |||
In this example negative marking costs 28 marks. With this marking a pure blind guess on a 4-option question still gains about 0.25 marks on average — but it's a gamble, and ruling out even one option makes guessing clearly worth it.
