RRB NTPC 2025 Exam Date, Notification & Vacancies

RRB NTPC is the recruitment for Non-Technical Popular Categories posts in Indian Railways. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) of the Ministry of Railways run it. This cycle has two Centralised Employment Notices (CEN). CEN No. 06/2025 is for Graduate-level posts at Pay Level 4 to 6, such as Station Master and Goods Train Manager. CEN No. 07/2025 is for Undergraduate (Class 12) posts at Pay Level 2 and 3, such as Commercial cum Ticket Clerk. Together they have 8,868 vacancies. You apply online at rrbapply.gov.in and can choose only one RRB. Selection has these steps: 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT, then a typing test (CBTST) or an aptitude test (CBAT) for some posts, and finally document verification and a medical test. Both CBTs have 1/3 negative marking.

CEN 06/2025 (Graduate, published 21 October 2025): 5,810 posts - Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor 161, Station Master 615, Goods Train Manager 3,416, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist 921, Senior Clerk cum Typist 638, Traffic Assistant 59. CEN 07/2025 (Undergraduate, published 28 October 2025): 3,058 posts - Commercial cum Ticket Clerk 2,424, Accounts Clerk cum Typist 394, Junior Clerk cum Typist 163, Trains Clerk 77. The CENs say these numbers are provisional and may go up or down. RRB-wise and zone-wise numbers are in Annexure B of each CEN. For the Graduate CEN, the RRBs reported about 25.9 lakh applications (tentative figure, notice of 4 August 2026).

How many vacancies are there in RRB NTPC 2025?

8,868 in total: 5,810 Graduate posts under CEN 06/2025 and 3,058 Undergraduate posts under CEN 07/2025. Goods Train Manager (3,416) and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (2,424) have the most posts. The CENs say these numbers may change.

What is the age limit?

As on 1 January 2026: 18 to 33 years for Graduate posts and 18 to 30 years for Undergraduate posts. SC/ST get 5 extra years, OBC (NCL) 3 years, and PwBD 10 to 15 years depending on category.

What qualification do I need?

Graduate posts need a degree from a recognised university. Undergraduate posts need Class 12 with at least 50% marks (not required for SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen or those with a higher qualification). Typist posts also need typing skill on a computer.

Is there negative marking?

Yes. In CBT-1 and CBT-2, 1/3 mark is cut for every wrong answer. Each correct answer gets 1 mark. There is no negative marking in the CBAT aptitude test.

Which posts have a typing test or aptitude test?

Typing test (CBTST, qualifying only, 30 wpm English or 25 wpm Hindi): Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist. Aptitude test (CBAT, minimum T-score 42 in each battery): Station Master and Traffic Assistant.

What stage is the 2025 recruitment at now?

Graduate (CEN 06/2025): CBT-2 result came on 27 August 2026; the typing test was set for 24 September and CBAT for 30 September 2026. Document verification dates are not announced yet. Undergraduate (CEN 07/2025): CBT-2 was held on 17 September 2026; its result is awaited.
