Part II: Aptitude Test

  • Awareness of people, buildings, materials, objects and textures linked to architecture and the built environment
  • Picturing 3D objects from 2D drawings and seeing different sides of 3D objects
  • Analytical reasoning and mental ability (visual, numerical and verbal)
  • 3D perception: scale, proportion, building forms, colour, texture, harmony and contrast
  • Designing and drawing geometric or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil
  • Changing 2D and 3D forms (union, subtraction, rotation), surfaces and volumes
  • Making plans, elevations and 3D views; 2D and 3D compositions from given shapes

Part III: Drawing Test

  • Sketching scenes and activities from memory: city spaces (markets, festivals, streets, monuments, parks), landscapes (riverfronts, forests, gardens, trees) and rural life
  • Done on a drawing sheet

Paper 2B (B.Planning)

Part I: Mathematics

Part II: Aptitude Test

  • Same two aptitude units as Paper 2A: awareness of the built environment, 3D visualisation, reasoning, and 3D perception and design of forms

Part III: Planning

  • General awareness: general knowledge, major cities, development issues, government programmes
  • Social sciences: nationalism, colonialism and colonial cities, industrialisation, resources and development, agriculture, water, minerals, industries, national economy, human settlements
  • Civics: power-sharing, federalism, political parties, democracy, the Constitution of India
  • Economics and society: economic sectors, globalisation, development, poverty, population, social exclusion, urbanisation, rural development
  • Thinking skills: unseen passage, map reading (scale, distance, direction, area), critical reasoning, charts, graphs and tables, basic statistics and quantitative reasoning
