WBCS Prelims 2024 has 200 questions of equal value for 200 marks, so each correct answer gets 1 mark. The 2024 question booklet says 0.25 mark is cut for each wrong answer. Each of the 8 areas carries 25 marks, which means 25 questions per area. Prelims marks are used only to pick candidates for the Main exam. They do not count in the final merit.
