Marking: 1 mark for each correct answer (50 questions carry 50 marks; 100 questions carry 100 marks). 0.25 mark is cut for each wrong answer.

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning and General Awareness are compulsory for everyone. You also answer ONE part (A to G): the subject you chose in your application, as per your qualification.
  • The subject you chose in the application cannot be changed later.
  • Parts A to F are held in one batch. Part-G (JE Telecom) is held in a separate batch.
  • Paper-I is qualifying only. Its normalized marks are used to shortlist candidates for Paper-II.
  • Minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II: UR 30%, OBC/EWS 25%, all other categories 20%.
  • SSC makes separate shortlists for Paper-II for JE (Civil), JE (Electrical & Mechanical), Scientific Assistant (IMD) and JE (Telecom).
  • Questions are set in Hindi and English only.
  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical questions are at Diploma level. Computer Science & IT, Electronics & Telecom, Physics and Telecommunication questions are at graduation level.
  • A scientific calculator, and the IS 456:2000 table and steam table (if needed), are given on the computer screen. No physical calculator or table is allowed.
  • Marks are normalized across shifts (SSC notice of 2 June 2025). Electrical and Mechanical marks are also normalized against each other, and Parts D, E and F for IMD are normalized as different shifts.

  • Final selection and post allocation are based on normalized Paper-II marks and the post preferences you give SSC.
  • Separate select lists are made for JE (Civil), JE (Electrical & Mechanical), JE (Telecom) and Scientific Assistant (IMD). For IMD, normalized marks of Part-D, E or F are used.
  • If two candidates have equal Paper-II marks, the tie is broken by Paper-I General Intelligence and Reasoning marks, then General Awareness marks, then the older candidate, then alphabetical order of names.
  • There is no re-evaluation or re-checking of scores.
